Masonic Centres Initiative

Masonic Centres are key to the future of the Craft. A well run centre will be inviting, and brethren will be pleased to take their friends and family to the building on social or other occasions; and be happy to dine after meetings in a convivial atmosphere. A well-managed Masonic building will ensure that Lodge subscriptions are competitive/affordable, which may involve maximising external income; and that pricing (and pricing structure) will take into account the impact on individual Lodges and membership.

Launch Meetings

W Bro Andrew Morgan held a very informative launch meeting at Haverfordwest Masonic Hall on Saturday 22nd September 2018. This well attended meeting heard about the new Masonic Centres Initiative and the vision for the future:

Initially we seek as an appointed group to create and deliver a code of practice for the Masonic Centres within the province and to assist and help the management of our centres understand and acknowledge the potential impact upon the general well-being of the membership and other users.  To this end there are a number of principles that will be at the core of this being delivered.

  1. A management structure that is diverse and understands its roles, responsibilities and powers.
  2. Detailed Business Planning and strategies that are workable and fit for purpose in the 21st century.
  3. Effective means of communication and consultation with members to ensure that their needs and interests are being heard.
  4. Provision of a building (centre) that meets the required legislative requirements and provides up-to-date facilities to meet members’ needs.
  5. Funding that is sustainable and diverse to allow management sufficient flexibility to deliver the activities to accord with members’ needs and requirements.

W Bro Andrew is a Chartered Surveyor with huge experience and he will be helping Hall Management Teams through the process and the detailed guidance received from London.

There will be a further meeting on Saturday 20th October 2018 at 11.00am in Carmarthen Masonic Hall. It is hoped that all Masonic Centres will have been well represented at one of the meetings.
