Members of Pembrokshire Special Needs Gym Club are thrilled with their new floor!
Pembrokeshire Special Needs Gymnastics Club has been running since 2007. The club is made up of 35 gymnasts. All of the coaches and helpers are volunteers and give up their free time to help the Club with Coaching and Fundraising. They are based in Milford Haven (Meads) Leisure Centre and run 3 separate classes on a Thursday between 4:30pm and 8:30pm. The Club is affiliated with Welsh Gymnastics and British Gymnastics.
When Pembrokeshire Special Needs Gymnastics Club was left without the specialist flooring they need to safely practice their gymnastics they appealed to local organisations to help them raise the £29,746.80 they needed for an inflatable gymnastics floor.
The appeal was heard by their local freemasons who donated over £2000 to their worthy cause and requested further assistance from the regional West Wales Freemasons Charity. Following donations from other sources, the club was left with a shortfall of £6,251 and the freemasons of West Wales were pleased to be able to make an award to complete the appeal and enable the new floor to be purchased.
The official opening was held on Thursday 10th October 2019 with James Ross, Head of West Wales Freemasons delighted to be in attendance along with 2 other senior members of the Province, W Bros Chris Harding and Steve McGarvie.
James Ross said: "We are delighted to be able to support this very worthy cause, both with these latest financial donations and the ongoing support some of our members give as volunteers."
Judith Laxton PSNGC Treasurer said: "On behalf of all our members I would like to pass on our huge thanks for your unbeliveably generous donation of £6,251 to help us reach our fundraising target. This will go such a long way towards fully equiping the gym."
