The Annual Carol Service of the Trevor Kelway Lodge took place at the Masonic Hall, Llanelli, on Saturday, 9th December 2017, with members and guests arriving to a warm welcome from the new Master, W.Bro. Marc Bassett, his partner, Katy, and two young children, James and Harry, supported by the presence of the Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro. Stephen Hookey and Mrs Angela Hookey.
Many gifts, from those attending and a number who were unable to attend, were placed around the Christmas tree for delivery by the Salvation Army to needy children during the Christmas period.
As in previous years, those attending joined in carol singing under the guidance of members of the Llanelli Salvation Army Band, who led the Service in an enthusiastic and meaningful manner.
The enjoyment of the evening continued upstairs with members and guests, including the Band Members of the Salvation Army, sitting down to ‘Christmas dinner’ in a most convivial atmosphere.
In addition to James and Harry, a number of other children turned up with their parents or grandparents. Their presence must have come to the attention of Father Christmas, as, during the course of the evening, Trevor Kelway’s Director of Ceremonies received a telephone call to let him into the building (there being no suitable chimney). Father Christmas spent some time chatting to the children, giving each a small gift for Christmas before continuing his journey by sleigh.
W.Bro. Marc presented a cheque for £200 to the Salvation Army, in the hope that it would aid them in their good works.
A raffle held later in the evening raised £190 which was to be used to benefit local good causes.
On behalf of the Trevor Kelway Lodge, W.Bro. Marc has expressed his thanks for the support of the Provincial Grand Master, Mrs Angela Hookey, and other supporters who ensured a successful evening.
