Tercentenary Golf Challenge report

 

The Tercentenary Golf Challenge was finally completed on Monday 26th June 2017, after being postponed because of bad weather on the 5th, June. The competition was organised to celebrate 300 years of masonry and to raise funds for this years’ Provincial Charity (Macmillan Nursing Support) An appeal had been made to all Masonic organisations to support this fund raiser by making donations to the Province or to the Golf society challenge.

A very successful day was held at Derllys Court golf club at Bancyfelin, Carmarthen, in good golfing weather, when 25 golfers from the society, under the captaincy of Rt. Wo Bro Eric Mock enjoyed an excellent competitive day; and together with donations received raised the magnificent sum of £1205.00 toward the Provincial appeal fund.

 In addition to these, Prizes were donated by many of the golf society members together.

Prizes for the golf were donated by: -

 

Langland bay Golf Club, Tenby Golf Club, Trefloyne Golf Club, South Pembs Golf Club, Milford Haven Golf Club and Haverfordwest Golf Club all of whom we visit in rotation.

Derllys Court Golf Club donated £50.00 toward the fund all of which were gratefully received.

 

On the day, the golf society through its members raised a sum of £395.00 through a raffle and entrance fees.  All in all, a very enjoyable and successful day.

In addition to the prizes a winning trophy, suitably engraved, was donated by Chris Hine  who then went on to win it.

 

At the conclusion of the prize giving the secretary Mike Bradney thanked everybody who had attended, donated prizes and contributed towards the magnificent total raised. He thanked the Derllys Court GC for their hospitality (super Bacon rolls and coffee to start followed by an excellent meal on conclusion of the golf.) and for their donation to the cause.

 The Course was in super condition and had been enjoyed by all the players; and thankfully the weather had remained good.

He thanked all the Masonic organisations for their contributions and his co helpers for the work carried out on the day (Clive Pitten- Danny Overend)

He reminded the members that the next meeting if the golf society had been arranged for Friday 1st September at the Haverfordwest Golf Club. (details to follow)

 

The Captain of the society Rt. Wo Bro Eric Mock  concluded the proceeding by thanking the |secretary and his team  for organizing a very fine day. And reiterating the thanks of the society to the Derllys Court Club.
