Tŷ Cymorth is a local Specialist Palliative Care Unit, based at Glangwili Hospital.

The Tŷ Cymorth Hospice Care Appeal exists to provide additional support for patients requiring palliative care in Carmarthen and District. Palliative care aims to improve the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problems associated with life-limiting and chronic illness.

The highly trained Palliative Care staff provide nursing, medical advice, counselling, symptom and medication management and relevant information for patients and their families both through day care and at home.

Our aim is to:

  • Enrich each person's quality of life
  • Promote independence
  • Offer opportunities to empower patients to make their own personal choices within a safe therapeutic environment
  • Provide education, information, support and advice for both patients and families

The staff also offer the following services:

  • Physical, Psychological, Spiritual and Social Support
  • Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy
  • Pre and post bereavement counselling for adults, children and young people

Meeting with others in similar circumstances can be of great assistance to some and having the opportunity to talk to those who understand and be listened to is one of the ways they are helped.

Specialist Services are available from Tŷ Cymorth Monday - Friday 9am-5pm.

If you would like further details about the services, or would like to access any of the services, please contact Ty Cymorth on 01267 227101.
