Make your 2017 New Year’s resolution a charitable healthy resolution.

No doubt you are all aware that Macmillan Cancer Care has been chosen to be our special charity for 2017.  As this is our tercentenary year the Provincial Grand Master hopes to surpass the £11,000 raised last year for prostate cancer.  Please find attached material which hopefully will persuade you to participate in a special slimming tournament. Not entering a team doesn’t mean that you can’t help and support the province in achieving a substantial total for Macmillan Cancer Support.

This year’s campaign has again a health message and many if not most members would benefit from some weight loss. Individuals can try to get sponsorship for their effort and may I suggest that if they can’t keep to their New Year’s resolution they could forfeit a penalty donation.  Weigh-in can be in a group or individual at home any time after the 1st of January and finishing the end of March.

Most Lodges have already received a bottle of Famous Grouse to auction at a festive board. If you haven’t received the whiskey and you wish to organise a raffle, please contact me and I will make sure that your Lodge receives a bottle ASAP.

A provincial team has already slimmed before Christmas and a few hundred pound has been collected. The actual amount collected by the members of the team will be accounted for in the total of their respective lodges. The charity stewards of Castlemartin and St Elli have already held raffles and they raised no less than £310 between them, well done and thank you very much.

Cheques from lodges, should be made out to the “West Wales Grand Charity”.  Cheques from private individuals made out to “Macmillan Cancer Support” could qualify for gift aid. Soon, I will email all a gift aid form from the charity.

Please send all donations to my home address and at the end of the campaign I will transfer the donations to the provincial grand treasurer.

Thank you.
