West Wales Masons Give £2400 to Save the Day

Head of West Wales Freemasons Stephen Hookey, presents the cheque to ICAN Productions

ICAN Productions is a non-profit organisation, involved in helping children between the ages of 12 and 17 enhance their experience in all aspects of performing arts and achieving their dreams.

ICAN were busy rehearsing for their production of "Footloose" which was to have been performed on July 11th 2019 in the Lyric Theatre, Carmarthen, when the company which was looking after the £15,000 the cast had raised to put on the production went out of business.

Desperate to continue with the performance the gallant organisers raised a further £4600 with the help of the cast and their parents and changed the venue to Queen Elizabeth High School, still on the 11th July.

Despite all their hard work, they still had a shortfall of £2400, and an emergency request was made to the West Grand Charity for the funds to enable the production to continue. The Trustees of the West Wales Grand Charity agreed straight away to donate the full £2,400 to the group and the money was presented on Tuesday 4th June 2019.

ICAN Productions said: "What a wonderful group of gentlemen we met this evening from the Provincial Grand Lodge of West Wales Masons who presented us with a phenomenal amount of £2,400. The cast and committee were overwhelmed with their generosity and the support we are receiving from Carmarthen town. We can not thank you enough and look forward to welcoming you all in July to our production of Footloose."
